Noah Heinrich commits to RPI
RPI adds a defenseman with high-end skating ability to the pipeline
Last month, the Bonnyville Pontiacs out of the Alberta Junior Hockey League announced that their young defenseman, Noah Heinrich had committed to RPI. Heinrich will have a couple more years of junior hockey before he suits up in the cherry and white, but he’ll be an exciting prospect to watch until then.
Heinrich’s best attribute is his skating ability: at an AJHL showcase last November, Neutral Zone scouts described him as a “smooth skating, agile defenseman with swift hands and the ability to shake off forecheckers and make plays up ice” and that “his footwork allowed him to play aggressive defensively and step up on opponents at the blue lines and jump rushes to break up or intercept passes.”
It will definitely be interesting to see how some of the other facets of his game develop in the next couple of years - in particular his shot. If you can add a great shot onto a guy who already excels at walking the blue line, you have the potential for a pretty potent offensive player.
We are projecting Heinrich to enroll in the Fall of 2025.
Again, congratulations to Noah and his family!
